Giro di Burnaby 2019 Road Closure Information

The evening of Thursday, July 11, 2019 the Giro di Burnaby takes place in the Heights Neighbourhood. This professional bicycle race features top men and women cyclists from all over North America racing for over $15,000 in cash prizes on a fast and challenging course along Hastings and Albert Streets between Madison and MacDonald.

Please note the Heights Neighbourhood will experience some traffic disruptions and parking restrictions on event day.

» Hastings Street (between Boundary and Willingdon) will be closed to all traffic between the hours of 4pm and 10pm on Thursday, July 11. Traffic traveling east and west along Hastings Street during these hours will be re-routed to Lougheed Highway.

» Access for residents north of Hastings can only be made by going north bound on Boundary or Willingdon. The right hand turn for west bound traffic on Hastings at Willingdon will not be permitted.

» Buses will be re-routed to Pender Street between Gamma and Boundary Road. There will be “No Stopping Any Time from 2-10pm” on both sides of Pender Street to accommodate the buses between Willingdon and Boundary Road.

» NOTE: Hastings Street will be cleared of all vehicles by 2pm on the North side and 3pm on the south side to allow race set up. Race start time is 5:30pm.

Any cars parked in areas that have restrictions PRIOR to 2pm will be ticketed and towed directly to Mundies.

Cars that are left in areas where parking has been restricted AT 2pm will be TICKETED and towed to thegravel parking lot at the north end of Beta Avenue in Confederation Park. After 7pm, any cars that are remaining in the gravel parking lot will be towed AT THE OWNER’S EXPENSE to Mundies lot at Griffiths and Kingsway. Mundies telephone number is 604-526-9677.
